Get These Guys a Dictionary

“So some day, if a Democrat becomes President and the Republicans win the House, even by a tiny margin, they can impeach the President, without due process or fairness or any legal rights. All Republicans must remember what they are witnessing here — a lynching. But we will WIN!

donald trump, tweeted 10/22/2019

“Sen. Lindsey Graham says he agrees with President Donald Trump that the Democratsimpeachment drive is like a lynching.

“The South Carolina Republican senator told reporters Tuesday that Trumps description is pretty well accurate, adding that the effort is a sham and a joke because the president doesnt know the identity of his accuser and the process is playing out in private.

“Graham told reporters on Capitol Hill that, This is a lynching in every sense. This is unAmerican.””

LYNCH

verb (used with object)

  1. to put to death, especially by hanging, by mob action and without legal authority.

What am I missing?

One-Two Punch

From the Associated Press:

“WASHINGTON (AP) — President Donald Trump’s former personal lawyer has pleaded guilty to campaign finance violations and his former campaign chairman convicted for financial fraud, raising questions about the president’s own legal jeopardy…

“Most damaging to Trump were statements by his longtime attorney and “fixer” Michael Cohen, who pleaded guilty in New York, saying he and Trump had arranged the payment of hush money to porn star Stormy Daniels and a former Playboy model to influence the election…

“In a split screen for the history books, Trump’s former campaign chairman Paul Manafort was convicted of financial crimes at nearly the same moment Tuesday Cohen pleaded guilty to a series of felonies, including campaign finance violations that the lawyer said he carried out in coordination with Trump.”

That sound you heard yesterday afternoon was something hitting the fan. Twice.

Mr. trump can scream, “RIGGED WITCH HUNT!!!” until his ship goes all the way underwater, but the fates of Mr. Cohen and Mr. Manafort in two separate courtrooms blew two two great big holes in his mighty vessel. Let’s see what he does as he takes on water.

You might guess, from my past writings, that I would be positively giddy over this turn of events. And yes, I admit it’s very satisfying for me to watch this guy get what’s coming. I hope the rest of his historically dysfunctional administration does, as well.

And yet, this is a sad state of affairs for our nation. Worse than Nixon and Watergate, worse than Clinton and Lewinsky/Flowers/Jones/etc., this President has shamed and defiled his office, and his “winning” facade is about to be exposed for the travesty that it is.

And that, if nothing else, is sad.

I know many of you will disagree, perhaps vehemently, with what I’m saying. That’s alright; you have your opinion, and I have mine. However you feel about it, though, get used to this.

I think we’re just getting warmed up, here. This is just Round One.

Love Me Do

“THE FIRST DUTY OF A LEADER IS TO MAKE HIMSELF BE LOVED WITHOUT COURTING LOVE. TO BE LOVED WITHOUT ‘PLAYING UP’ TO ANYONE – EVEN TO HIMSELF.”

Andre Malraux, French author (1901-1976)

They were like death. And un-American. Somebody said treasonous. Can we call that treason? Why not? They certainly didn’t seem to love our country very much.”

donald trump, U.S. Fake President, on the Democrats not clapping during his State of the Union address

There you have it, folks. If you don’t applaud trumpy’s every word, if you don’t go “crazy wild”, as he said the sycophant Republicans did, then you are being un-American, even committing a treasonous act.

Well, you certainly couldn’t accuse trump of being un-American. The guy even applauded himself, for crying out loud.

I wonder how much clapping he’s done in the last couple of days, as the Dow Jones fell over 1,100 points Monday, right after falling over 600 points last Friday.

Now, you and I know, the President has little to do with the stock market’s rises and falls, but if donnie’s gonna take all the credit for the good news, as he has, he better be ready to take the blame for the bad news.

Has he? Not that I’ve heard. Now, the official line from the White House is all about the “long-term economic fundamentals.” Convenient, huh?

But, back to the bull$#!t about the treasonous Democrats.

trump has made it clear, America has no room for un-Americans, such as Mexicans, Muslims and, I guess, now Democrats. And the penalty for treason is imprisonment, perhaps death.

So, my takeaway from all this is, if you didn’t go “crazy wild” for donald trump’s SOTU address, you should be thrown out of the country, locked up or killed.

Land of the free, right? We’ve already seen this administration’s attitude toward protesters, accusing them of “terroristic acts.” It’s George W. Bush and, “You’re either with me or against me,” taken to an insane new level.

One other thing: Let’s imagine for just a second President Hillary Clinton was giving the SOTU address. Would the Republicans’ likely tepid response be just as un-American and considered to be treason? Just askin’.

As crazy as it drives you to hear this, donnie, everybody doesn’t love you. And, as much as you want to, you can’t punish everybody who doesn’t. That’s not how this works, bubby.

The above quote from Andre Malraux was the Quote of the Day in my morning paper, today. It immediately made me think of trump, and the kind of “leader” he has been. How he demands that everyone love him, lest they be punished.

You know what, though, donnie? I do love America. Very much.

But not you. Not at all.

Rebel Yell

He’s a rebel and he’ll never ever be any good
He’s a rebel ’cause he never ever does what he should
But just because he doesn’t do what everybody else does
That’s no reason why I can’t give him all my love

Look, I get the appeal.

He’s an outsider taking on the status quo, the un-politician in the cage with all the career politicians, the straight-talking, shoot-from-the-hip, regular, everyday millionaire of the people, and he will “Make America Great Again.” Trust him.

Make no mistake: Donald Trump has struck a nerve with a large segment of the American population. He knows we’re scared of our own shadow these days, and presents himself as our long-awaited protector, who will rescue us from all the Boogeymen out there, like Mexicans, Muslims, Democrats, etc. He knows we’ve had it up to here with politics as usual, and offers himself as the gunslinger who will ride into Washington and run all them bushwhackin’ varmints outta town.

But, good lord…

Is Hillary Clinton really so bad that you’d rather have this guy as our President?

My brothers discuss my blog posts, sometimes. My oldest brother has observed my more recent ones being a bit more political.

Well, here I go again, bro.

You know you’re not running too good a campaign when prominent members of your own party are demanding that you quit. Immediately.

How many of you saw the first two debates between Trump and Clinton? I don’t know what you saw, but I saw a man who doesn’t need to be president of anything. If this is how he handles the relatively low pressure of a debate, I can only imagine how he would hold up in the Oval Office. It’s scary to think about.

Yet, despite that, people are still out there who love him to death. Every new revelation about his past or present behavior only serves to further solidify their unwavering support for Trump. You can crap on this guy all day, and his Loyal Followers won’t smell a thing. Like he said, he could shoot someone in the street and not lose supporters. Heck, he could probably start shooting them, and more would just pop up somewhere.

October 11, 2016, 15:46 CDT.

That is the exact date and time when it finally hit me. Why this guy is so popular with so many people.

We finally have a candidate who openly caters to our laziness as Americans.

All we want is someone who will solve all our problems for us, and here he is, at long last. He’ll build The Wall. He’ll restore law and order. He’ll bring all the jobs back from overseas. He’ll rid us of Isis, starting with turning away any more Muslims.

Isn’t that awesome? And we don’t have to do a f*****g thing!! We can continue with our regularly scheduled activities, and just let Daddy Trump take care of everything.

Because we have abdicated our responsibility for the care and feeding of our nation.

Shame…on…us.

There are exceptions, I know, so to those of you who are and have been actively involved in making this country a better place to live, I offer my apologies, and my gratitude. I wish I were more like you.

I wish a lot of us were.

I’m making this one final appeal to you.

Please. Don’t. Vote. For. Donald. Trump.

If for no other reasons than these:

1. He has sexually assaulted women. And bragged about it. (Granted, he is, unfortunately, not the only man ever to do so. But that doesn’t make it right.)

2. He is far too thin-skinned and vindictive to handle the nuances of foreign policy. The man can’t even let a freakin’ tweet go unchallenged, for cryin’ out loud.

3. He rejects the reality of climate change, even as it stares us all right in the face.

Believe me, I don’t like Hillary Clinton, either. I think both these candidates stink.

I don’t like Jill Stein’s chances, but I support most everything her party, the Green Party, stands for. I don’t see much chance for Gary Johnson, either, and besides, I’m not sure what to make of him, anyway.

But, at least, Hillary has experience. I know Trump characterized it in the first debate as “bad experience”, but I’ll still take that over no experience.

I know she brings her own set of baggage to this contest. I know she’s “a CLINTON.” I know about that email debacle. I know she’s cozy with the Wall Street set.

And I get that the “lesser of two evils” is still evil. But it’s also lesser.

And I really think voting for Mr. Trump is a big mistake.

But, I’ve said my piece, now. As the saying goes, It’s up to you, America.

Get thee to the polls and VOTE!
