Today, March 8, is International Women’s Day!
According to the website, https://www.internationalwomensday.com (which I strongly recommend you check out today):
“International Women’s Day (March 8) is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women. The day also marks a call to action for accelerating women’s equality.
“IWD has occurred for well over a century, with the first IWD gathering in 1911 supported by over a million people. Today, IWD belongs to all groups collectively everywhere. IWD is not country, group or organization specific.”
The theme for IWD in 2022 is, “#BreakTheBias.”
It calls on all of us to envision a world of equality, where gender bias, stereotyping and discrimination are no longer obstacles to progress.
It challenges all of us to closely examine our thoughts, words and actions in the course of an ordinary day, and becoming more aware of anytime we automatically default to our programmed biases against women.
To be blunt, women the world over are basically treated like $#!t, and yet, they’re the reason we’re all here. They deserve equal status in our society, and it’s going to take all of us to do our part to make that happen.
So, what are you going to do? Do you need to change your mind about women? How to think of them, speak to them, speak about them, treat them? Are you going to show them respect? If you’re their employer, will you pay them the same as the men who do the same work as them? If you work for them, will you respect their authority as you would that of a man in the same position?
And if you witness any gender bias in your environment, will you have the guts to call it out?
What are you going to do?
These are the questions I pose to you, and to myself, on this International Women’s Day. Women are simply asking to be treated fairly and respectfully, and they shouldn’t have to fight for that. It is their right.
Period.
Happy International Women’s Day, ladies! Revel in your magnificent sisterhood. This Texas man thanks you for all the gifts you bring to our world.
I sincerely apologize for anytime in my life I have exhibited bias against you; I acknowledge that is inexcusable. I think I’ve evolved some, and I promise to do more.
And may the day come to celebrate the end of discrimination and prejudice, and the beginning of new attitudes and actions that place women, all women, in the position of equality they so much deserve.
Love and Peace, y’all. #BreakTheBias!
Hey.
Hope you are doing well.
I’m doing mental health awareness reblogs.
If you want me to share your post on the subject, can you please suggest the one you would like me to re-blog?
Thank you and take careย
