Kudos to Bezos

In case you hadn’t heard:

This week, Amazon founder Jeff Bezos announced he was committing ten billion dollars of his own money to fighting climate change.

Ten. Billion. Dollars.

Of his own money!

Just how rich is this dude?

According to Associated Press, Bezos will “start giving grants this summer to scientists, activists and nonprofits working to protect Earth.”

$10 billion ought to help, don’t you think?

If you would like to donate $10 billion (or, perhaps less) of your own money in the fight against climate change, Vox.com recently listed six organizations that might be worth your consideration. You can find the list here.

Remember: climate change is the issue of our time. Our very existence depends on how we deal with it.

Thanks for your amazing generosity, Mr. Bezos. Here’s hoping it’s money well spent.

  1. I am, admittedly, torn on this one. On the one hand, I DO applaud Mr. Bezos’ contribution to what I consider THE MOST important issue facing the world today. On the other hand, though … he is worth some $130 billion … what took him so long? And why only $10 billion? Why not $65 billion — half of his net worth? Still … he is doing more than some other billionaires, and I definitely do appreciate his efforts. I just wish it were more, and I wish others with great (bloated, useless, disgusting) wealth would step up to the plate. I use re-usable canvas bags and mesh produce bags at the grocery, recycle whatever I can, turn lights out, and wear a sweater so I can keep the heat turned down, so I really really resent when rich dudes like Donald Trump make ZERO sacrifices. But, I digress. Yes, two thumbs up 👍👍 to Jeff Bezos for his contribution.
