Dahr Jamail has been reporting regularly on climate change, and its impact on man and wildlife, for the independent, nonprofit news organization truthout.org since 2014. The facts he presents in this article are truly frightening, but make yourself look at them. The option of turning away and ignoring them is no longer available.

The most frightening fact of all is this:

There are people about to assume positions of authority in our government – including the Presidency – who, in the face of all the overwhelming scientific evidence, still have the outright, jaw-dropping gall to insist climate change is not real.

For the sake of our future, we need to be more active – and more actively vocal – right now; we who have been entrusted with the caretaking of this home that sustains our life.

This isn’t about the environment. It’s about us. The earth is not in danger. The environment will be just fine. It will adapt and survive.

The question is, will we?

I need to be scared, and so do you.
